Joe Coghlan

Voice Teacher

Joe is a passionate and friendly teacher who has been educating students since 2007. He enjoys teaching all styles of singing, from classical to music theatre to pop and working with students of all ages.

He holds an Honours Degree in Music Performance from the VCA where he wrote his thesis entitled “An Examination of the Musical Motifs in Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George”. He has performed in many musical theatre and operatic productions including Elegies for Angels, Punks, and Raging Queens, Harvey Milk: The Opera, Assassins (Czolgosz), Into the Woods (Jack), Dido and Aeneas (Sailor), The Gondoliers (Guiseppe), The Magic Flute (Papageno), and A Midsummer Nights Dream (Bottom).

Joe is also a composer and music director having written the music for Back from the Dead Red for the Melbourne Fringe Festival 2010 and vocal coached performers in several musicals. In 2013 he wrote, directed, and starred as Little Juan in the new musical, Gouti: The God of Them All, for the Melbourne Fringe Festival.

Joe teaches on Friday.
